Ulani Prater Gulstone
Prater Law is a boutique law office founded by Attorney Ulani Prater Gulstone that is dedicated to providing client-focused and results-oriented advocacy to individuals, families, businesses and community associations in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
Since 2008, Ulani has provided advice, counsel and representation to community associations, small businesses, individuals and families in a variety of matters, including, but not limited to, litigation, real estate, organizational governance, contracts, business planning, estate planning and probate. She brings this experience, along with a passion for ensuring that her clients are well-informed of their rights and obligations, to each client to ensure that decisions are made from a position of strength and not the exigencies of the moment.
Ulani served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Cathy H. Serrette of the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County, Maryland. There she gained extensive knowledge about the inner-workings of the court and the legal system. After her clerkship, Ulani began practicing of law as a family law attorney with Maryland Legal Aid, the largest private, non-profit law firm in Maryland and which provides civil legal representation to low-income individuals. Ulani was later an Associate Attorney for several years with a small law firm based in Washington, D.C., focusing primarily on community association representation (homeowners’, condominiums and cooperative associations), litigation, and estate planning. Appointed by two (2) Mayors, Ulani volunteered for over ten (10) consecutive years as a Commissioner on the District of Columbia Real Estate Commission.
Ulani received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a major in Finance, from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. After time as a licensed financial advisor and then in the Corporate Compensation Division of a regional bank, she earned her Juris Doctor from the Howard University School of Law in Washington, DC.
